I am an American citizen traveling under a UK Visa to Lisbon who was assaulted on Monday, 16 August 2021 around 18.00 at Klass Wagen Auto Rental, located at R. Doro 5, 2680-032 Camarate, Portugal. The assailant was office manager, Mr Loredan Dabau. The attack consisted of him slamming me with shuttle bus door. I suffer from a medical disability and his attack struck me directly on my disability and caused it to be aggravated further. To give you further context, I returned my rental car and upon inspection by the attendant, she noted two minor nicks in the paint. I argued they were not created by me, and I asked to speak to the manager. Mr Loredan Dabau came to discuss that I did not buy the additional insurance offered by his company, since I was covered by an outside insurer, so I was liable for even the wear and tear, no matter how minor. I wanted to take this issue to a more senior corporate manager, but Mr Dabau would not reveal his name so I could file a complaint with the company, so I photographed him in order to have proof of the interaction. He asked for me to delete the photograph, which I confirmed I would do if he gave me his name. He refused and I tried to access the shuttle. Mr Dabau slammed the shuttle door on me, hitting me repeatedly directly in my stoma, which is a medical condition that leaves my intestines exposed from my body and forced them to discharge on me. I showed Mr Dabau my condition, and he closed the door on me again. Despite my medical condition deteriorating he dispatched the shuttle with other passengers and forced me to remain at the rental outlet. As I was in pain and discomfort from the assault I complied with Mr Dabau's orders and deleted the photogragh and signed the return contract under duress in order to be returned to the airport which is 6KM away. Mr Dabau required me to be driven by him to the airport hotel in which I was staying. Along the way, Mr Dabau spent the trip criticizing my nature of unhappiness. I asked him three times to drive in silence, but he continued to criticize my attitude and unhappiness for being charged for damage, just because I did not accept Klass Wagen's additional insurance. En route to the hotel, I called Klass Wagen to start an official complaint from the assault. Mr Dabau demanded that I write how gracious he was to drive me back to the hotel himself, so that I would not have to wait for the shuttle to return. I reminded him that it was that shuttle door he used to physically assault me and damage my medical device. In my utter disbelief that Mr Dabau suggested I praise his behavior, after holding me under duress and assaulting me, I exited his vehicle. He left the car and yelled, You're a fucking idiot. This was all documented by the local police in an official police report. Is this how American's and British nationals are treated in Portugal?
