Suspected Fraud - Security Deposit €1,500 was not returned

On 08 December 2025, a security deposit of €1,500.00 was charged to my credit card by Magic Islands Rent-A-Car UNIP LDA in connection with a vehicle rental. The vehicle was returned in proper condition, which was confirmed by the company with the written note “all ok.” Despite repeated written requests (17 December 2025, 30 December 2025, and 12 January 2026), the deposit has not been refunded, and the company has provided no response or justification. I consider the continued retention of the deposit unjustified and potentially fraudulent.

The refund was processed by you on 30 January 2026 and was confirmed by my bank on the same day. However, the “proof of refund” you enclosed refers to the original debit of the security deposit from my credit card dated 06 December 2025, not to the actual refund transaction. Providing the initial charge as evidence of a refund is inappropriate and reflects a lack of professional diligence. I strongly recommend that, in the future, you comply with your contractual obligations by refunding security deposits promptly and without requiring repeated requests from customers.
