She paid $250 for the shipment. The contents of the parcel were intended to be a birthday gift, for which she mistakenly declared a value of $1000. Consequently, UPS Portugal contacted us to inform us of a tax fee amounting to 312.15 euros. Upon learning of this, I promptly contacted my sister to request a change in the declared value. She agreed and paid an additional $40 to effect the change. However, despite our efforts, UPS Portugal did not acknowledge or confirm the changes we made.After two weeks of uncertainty regarding the status of the parcel, UPS Portugal informed us that they had returned the package due to non-payment of the tax fee. My sister promptly settled the tax fee on December 21, after which the parcel was released from customs. I was under the impression that no further fees would be incurred. However, upon attempting delivery, UPS Portugal demanded an additional 312 euros in taxes, threatening to return the parcel to the sender if the amount was not paid. Feeling pressured and stressed, I reluctantly paid the requested amount. Consequently, We have now paid taxes twice, in addition to the original shipment fee.On December 27, 2023, I filed for a refund under Case No. C-0186792776. I provided all the requested documentation promptly. However, I have been informed that the refund will be processed within 3 to 4 weeks, so I waited patiently. I contacted them again last February 9, but still they said it will be processed as soon as possible. Next week will mark two months since the initiation of my refund case. Furthermore, I have been assigned another Case No. 0913770103. I'm losing my patience to wait more, when I've already waited. I am greatly disappointed by the lack of progress and transparency in resolving this matter.I kindly request immediate action to expedite the processing of my refund.
