I filed a claim with Lusitania insurance for damages when my relatively new (Hisense) refrigerator failed to work and caused all the electricity in my home to short circuit. The claim was filed in October 2023 on my behalf by customer service representatives at Montepio Bank, from which I had purchased the insurance. Despite sending all the requested information -- a statement from a licensed electrician that the refrigerator had died and could not be repaired, a merchant bill for a new refrigerator we had to purchase the same day, and pictures of the contents of the refrigerator and freezer which had spoiled as the replacement refrigerator, purchased on Thursday, couldn't be delivered before the close of business the following Monday -- the claim was never settled. I was contacted by a technician on behalf of Lusitania who wanted to come and inspect the non-functioning refrigerator. I explained to him that our kitchen is very small and it was impossible to fit both the old side-by-side American style unit and the new, identical one in our kitchen ... so it was removed by the company that transported and installed the new refrigerator/freezer. In our original claim, we also indicated that we would be gone from our home to spend a month in Spain. That, too, was reported by email to the technician. I asked what more we could do to expedite the claim process ... but received no reply from him or Lusitania insurance.
