I hereby file a complaint against an accommodation booked through the Airbnb platform, located in Portugal. Before paying for the reservation, I contacted the host to confirm if there were construction works nearby. The answer was clearly negative. However, when I arrived at the place, I noticed that there was indeed an active work next to the property. When talking to the engineer in charge of the work, I was informed that the construction has been going on since November last year, which proves that the host was fully aware of the situation. I informed the host and Airbnb immediately about this situation of misleading advertising, but the landlord refused to recognize it and denied any refund for the remaining period of my stay. I consider this situation a clear violation of consumer rights, since I have been deliberately misled. I am seeking justice for myself and I sincerely hope that the Portuguese authorities will take measures to prevent future consumers from also becoming victims of this type of conduct on the part of this company.
