I am filing a complaint against Sixt Portugal regarding a disputed EUR 3,038.92 damage charge following a vehicle rental on 14-15 October 2026.
I accidentally scraped the passenger side of the rental vehicle against a concrete pillar. I immediately acknowledged the accident and accept responsibility for the damage caused. However, I dispute Sixt's assessment and excessive repair charges.
During the return inspection, five damaged areas were identified. I was repeatedly told that neither passenger door had dents. An employee also told me my signature was only required to close the rental, not to accept a damage report. I subsequently received a report bearing my signature and listing 11 damage entries. I immediately objected in writing. Two witnesses have provided signed statements supporting my account of the employees' explanations.
Sixt subsequently assessed EUR 1,680 for replacement of the entire rear passenger door, claiming it was beyond repair. The available photographs do not clearly establish dents or explain why repair and repainting would be insufficient. I also dispute the alleged dents to the front passenger door.
Sixt's published terms state that its International Damage Catalogue (IDC) is available upon request. Despite four written requests, I have not received it.
I have prepared an itemized alternative assessment of EUR 1,282.82, including VAT and fees, retaining Sixt's prices for the three undisputed damage items. I am willing to pay fair, substantiated charges.
I request disclosure of the applicable pricing catalogue, technical justification for the disputed damage classifications and door replacement, and a fair reassessment of the amount demanded.
