I took out an contract with Medicare Health for myself and my daughter in March 2025. I do not speak Portuguese and the person who phoned me and assisted me spoke very good English, they explained some things to me that I had questions about but at no point was I told I can ONLY cancel my contract in March of every year and if I do not cancel it in the month of March it will automatically renew for the next 12 months and I will not be able to cancel it until the following March. In April 2026 I send an email requesting to cancel my contract from end May 2026. I received and email back stating the "renewal" is cancelled but I still need to pay until March 2027. I explained that I was not told about this when I took the contract otherwise I would have stayed with Medis who allow their clients to cancel at any time. I then went and read through the contract and it did say I am allowed to remove a beneficiary and that only if I do it in the first year of the contract will the money fee not be adjusted but stay the same. I then requested to remove my daughter as beneficiary and although that is allowed and even though I am in the second year of the contract they refuse to adjust the payment.
