Your Ref:
Dear Renato Ghirotti,
Thank You for Your patience while we reviewed Your request for invoices for Your recent stays. We are very sorry for the inconvenience and for the time You’ve already spent trying to resolve this.
Booking.com acts as an intermediary between You and the Service Provider. The actual reservation agreement is directly between You and the Service Provider (or, in some cases, the partner company that sold the room), not with Booking.com as the seller of the stay. Under our General Terms and Conditions and our Service Provider documentation, it is the Service Provider – the accommodation or the partner company through which the room was sold – who is legally responsible for issuing any tax invoice for the stay.
This means that Booking.com cannot issue an invoice for Your stays, even when the reservation or payment has been facilitated through our platform or through one of our partner companies. Our role is to provide the platform and, where applicable, to facilitate payment on the Service Provider’s or partner’s behalf, but we do not act as the seller of the room, and we hold no responsibility for invoicing and do not send invoices for room reservations to You or to the Service Provider.
In line with this, our public guidance for Service Providers clearly states that:
“Reservations are legal agreements between [the Service Provider] and [their] guests, so [the Service Provider] must issue an invoice when required,” even if the payment was facilitated by Booking.com.
“We hold no responsibility for invoicing and won’t send invoices for any room reservation to [Service Providers] or [their] guests.”
Because of these rules, we’re not able to create or amend tax invoices for Your stays. The correct invoice can only be issued by the Service Provider itself or, if the booking was processed entirely through a third‑party provider (Partner Offer/wholesaler/OTA), by that partner provider as the seller of the room.
What we can still do for You:
We can continue to follow up with the relevant Service Providers and, if applicable, their partner provider, reminding them of their obligation to issue an invoice where required by law and asking them to send it directly to You.
If You only need proof of payment (rather than a tax invoice), we can help You obtain a payment receipt from Your Booking.com confirmation or app, which shows the total amount paid for Your reservations.
Please accept our sincere apologies that this has not been resolved more smoothly so far. If You share the reservation numbers and the specific billing details You need on the invoices (name/company name, address, VAT number if applicable), we will gladly add these to Your case and reiterate the request to the responsible Service Providers on Your behalf.
Kind regards,
