To whom it may concern,
I am a Portuguese citizen and a long-term TEMU customer (over one year). I am lodging a formal complaint against TEMU and its partner GBG for requiring a government-issued photo ID for age verification.
I challenge this policy based on the GDPR:
Data Minimization (Art. 5): I am an existing customer with verified payment methods. Requiring a national ID is disproportionate and excessive for purchasing consumer goods.
Lack of Proportionality: There are less intrusive ways to verify age (e.g., credit card verification) that do not involve exposing my full identity to a third-party or servers outside the EU.
Invasive Practice: Forcing a scan of a government document to access product categories is a violation of my privacy rights as an EU resident.
I refuse to provide my ID and request your intervention to ensure TEMU complies with EU privacy and consumer protection laws by offering non-invasive alternatives.
