Dear Sirs and Madames,
I rented a car from Sixt in Lisbon on Dec 2, 2024. Within one hour of picking up the car the oil lamp went on. I tried calling the emergency number on my contract, but they referred me to another number that I also called but gor no help there either. So I purchased 2 liters of oil for Eur 60 and filled one liter in the engine (making it about 70% full) and kept the other liter in the car if there would be further leakage.
When returning the car in Faro the person checking the car said there was going to be no problem to get a refund for the oil expense, but that I should contact the local manager to get the refund.
I talked to the local manager who initially behaved really rude when I showed him the receipt and did nothing to refund the expense. Instead he instructed me to send an email to two different addresses in Sixt with photos of the receipt and other details, which I did send.
After a few days I was contacted by Sixt and they offered me a voucher that I could use for future rents. However, I do want my expense credited since I'm not at all happy with the treatment I've gotten from Sixt.
Again after a few more days they said that I could not get a cash refund since their (i.e. Sixt) Tax number was not on the receipt. I informed them that at the time I did not have their tax number and had no idea of knowing that it was necessary to have. They claimed that when calling their service numbers you always get their tax number. I informed them that I did indeed try to call two different numbers to get assistance but got neither that nor tax numbers.
Please, can you help me get my refund and also make sure that other people get to know how they treat their customers. I spent 60 Eur and maybe saved them an engine for 2000 Eur plus work to replace it.
Yours sincerely,
Anders Englund
