I am a British Citizen living permanently and legally in Portugal, I recently applied for the Deco Proteste recommended Credit Card, the "Unicre - Deco Proteste no cash back" card, requesting a credit limit of €500. My application was initially accepted on condition of providing satisfactory supporting documentation. I spent considerable time and effort gathering and mailing both the requested and additional documents believing they demonstrated my favourable financial situation. Promptly I received an email rejecting my application and advising I should phone to receive clarification of why my application was not accepted. I made the call and was told there was no indicated reason for rejection to be seen. I need to know the reason because my own Portuguese Banking Branch told me that their Credit Card partner would not consider providing a Credit card to any Foreign National Living in Portugal. If this is the current National Policy I will not waste time applying to other institutions.
